I've just added an80 series to my collection. i'm going to add a supercharger, could i ask you fime folks for the do's and don'ts? i'll use this part time as a driver and recreational vehicle.thanks

Yup, the TRD S/C is no longer available :(

However, there is widespread rumors and rampant speculation that they will be available again. This information has come from several people on MUD who claim to have insider information (from where I don't know and really doesn't matter).:p

I've heard TRD, LC Engineering, Santa Claus, and the like.

I'll tell ya the real secret though on how to get one...

...Buy an 80 that already has one!!!:D:D:D:flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2:
That's what I did, and it seems to be the only reliable way to get one.:grinpimp:

Just open your wallet everytime you fill up with premium fuel.... 11-12mpg if ideling or 60mph on the highway.

Really makes the 6 come alive yet so much $.... cost me around 4500 and I did it myself.

HG
injectors
Supercharger kit
killed the transmission

If you can drive one that has one first.

The TRD supercharger is still currently dead. Revival is a possibility but there is NO time frame at present.

LC Engineering has mine right now. They bought the rights from TRD/Alpine. Call John in R&D and ask about it. They are gearing up to start production.

Please post any additional details you might have.

I am curious if they are building the same design or making modifications.

I just got mine back from LC Engineering. They spent about $40,000.00 in research and related needs for re-introduction. After they sent out the projected pricing, they received so much negative feedback that they have decided to table this project for the time being.

For the rest of the details call John in R&D at LC and ask him about it. he'll put you on a list. As of right now, I wouldn't hold your breath for the re-introduction. Sorry guys.

Thanks for the info.

Feels like getting kicked in the junk. :frown:

That's too bad... :(

I agree with Toyota1031. Try to find one with SC installed. Anyone wants to buy my truck? ;)

ouch although not entirely unexpected..............

that's what they said they had into it. They bought the rights, but had no s/c to R&D. They had my rig for four months, I believe the price.

how could they spend $40,000.00 on producing an already engineered part?

Probably a lot of them are labor cost. Maybe, a few Engineers were working on it. :meh:

24HoursofNevda - Did they make any changes on yours?

After they sent out the projected pricing, they received so much negative feedback that they have decided to table this project for the time being.

Any idea on what the "projected pricing" was? I would have to imagine if it was close to what TRD had been charging there would be a fair amount of interest. Lower = LOTS of interest. Higher = less interest

What do you think of the supercharger they came up with now that you have your 80 back?

I'm pretty :frown: that I'll be stuck doing 20-25 mph pulling my popup up the mountain passes for what looks like a long time.

Having my cruiser back after 4 months is great. Replacing the cracked ring sucks.

They were writing a fuel mapping for it. They sent the charger off to Magnacharger (i think that was the company) to be reversed engineered and they had other stuff cnc'd in house.

They did not change anything to mine, yet. They will be adding two injectors and I'm scoring a prototype head gasket in the next few weeks. They are starting to produce these and are going to be sending some to Australia. I should have the second gasket. I'll post pics when it arrives.

I didn't think they're pricing was bad. IIRC, it was in between 3-4k. The people that sell their products thought there wasn't enough room for mark up (At least that's the way it was told to me).

There are two John's there. The John in R&D has been outstanding. He has called to see how the project is coming since it's been home and is my contact source. In other words, I'm just reguratating what he tells me. The thing that did suck was they had it for so long, did a hg replacement, but refused to replace the piston ring while it was there.

Are you saying the cost of production and amortized R&D and manufacturing setup is $3-4k, or the retail price will be $3-4k? Would this be sold directly by LCE, or would they manufacture kits for TRD to distribute and sell through dealers?
