Hello all! I'm moving forward on my cruiser build up again and I've hit a bit of a block. I can't find a good dash pic with all the stock locations. Mine is a 65 FJ40 I believe, it has the three ridges along the top center. I've looked in FAQ and I couldn't find a pic of the early one on SOR. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

this is a 45, but the dash is the same

Many dash's had a hand throttle, choke pull, cowl vent pull and headlight switch in some configuration all located to the left of the FD pull. There's a fifth spot to the left of the FD knob that seems to vary by Cruiser.

I've seen those 5 mixed around, not sure which configuration was the original. I've seen a couple nice restorations here on Mud that all have differing combinations of those 5.

My 66, which shares the same dash, has a dome light switch upper left, hand throttle upper right, headlight switch lower left and choke lower right. The cowl vent on mine is directly to the left of the FD knob. Not sure if that's original, but its what I got....

The lever is the Hi-Neutral-Lo gear range selector.

Thans Mtrunner. The PO cut a huge hole in the lower part of the dash for a radio like a goober. I made a template and I'm lucky enough that my friend is machining me a cover that will cover the gauge cluster, completly cover the lower indented portion of the dash and the glove box door. I'm just trying to account for the choke mainly. The switches I can move around a bit. I've got the hole for the fresh air and the cowel. I'm not using the original FD shifter because I have a newer set up but thats in the build up already.

The arrangement 3 Puppies has is original, with the choke pull below the hand throttle pull. I think pickups just had a plastic filler plug in the hole Bad Coco mentions, at least mine did. FJ45 and maybe FJ40 "vans" had a room light pull switch there. I have put a fog light pull switch in there, myself. The switches certainly can end up in different arrangements and work, but what 3 Puppies has is "right".

hey bad coco, what are you going to do with the original fd lever if you aren't going to use it? I could use one... (hint:grinpimp:)

Middlecalf, it will be after the weekend before I can look for it. If I can find it NP. If not, Pardion has tons of parts and he sells that stuff all the time.

Thanks for all the help guys

Do you know what goes in the missing hole?

correct Dave, a plastic plug, it was missing when I bought the rig last summer. I used a plug out of another rig I have so now it's "complete". On a side note it looks like the same plastic plug, rear side of the bed, by the tailgate.

:hmm: Appears to be mia in my truck!

I'm afraid to remove them, they sure do look the same. there is an upper and lower one per side. see the pics both pass side shots are either missing the top or the bottom one.
