Hey guys,

Forgive me if the answer is out there. I have searched and searched but I am having trouble finding a solution to my speedometer.

I have a 1991 FJ80 with the 3FE so the speedometer should be completely mechanical.

The speedometer does not work. The odometer works just fine. I have pulled the speedometer cable out of its sheath and it is in good shape. I even cleaned and lubed the cable. Still nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions or a solution that I should try?

Thanks.

Hello there , i´m not a mechanical, i´m software engineer, but loves Yotas, i´ve learn when you lube fast moving plastic parts, beware of use heavy grease or normal oil, because it stucks your odometer, causes loses readings and heating, just in case use Oil labeled for fast moving parts like bearings.

If the cable is in good shape, and it's properly inserted into the transfer case (which is where I assume you pulled it out from to check it) then the issue is probably in the gauge. Typical symptoms before it stops working include a wobbling speedo needle while holding a steady speed.

Has it never worked, or did it just happen?
