So im driving my cruiser on the freeway today. previous trips on the freeway my fj

likes to shake at about 45-50 (speedo doesnt work) and then does away around 50

-55 or so, after that it rides pretty nice. today was a different story. i got on the on

ramp got up to speed and its starts shaking like crazy. it didnt go away this time.

i look down at my front tire and its shaking. i got off the freeway and

drove PCH all the way home in case something snaps or brakes. now when i go up

my drive way i hear a click coming from the front driver side tire. i first thought

the shaking was caused by unbalenced tires that were given to me when i bought

the cruiser.im think about changing out my tie rods and buying new balenced

tires, so would like to know what might be broken and needs to be replacement.

if i did any damage to the knuckles?
thanks

sounds like wheel bearings tough to tell though, might be time for a knuckle rebuild

wheel bearings.

Be safe and just do an entire knuckle rebuild.

Probably didn't do any damage, but you sure ain't helpin anything.

I had similar experience breaking a metal belt in the tire. It even clicked.

Regardless of whatever else might be wrong, get rid of those tires. It's a safety issue.

I have to give another vote to go after your tires first.

I just rebuilt my knuckles, new stabilizer, new TRE's, new center arm, and still had death wobble. Went and swapped out tires with another friends cruiser here in town and in an instant my cruiser was healed...

So I chucked the bad tires to the curb and strapped on 35 MTR's last week. Everything is peachy now.

I would try to find someone you know with good tires and swap out the fronts and see what happens... or rebuild everything like I did first and have one of the best steering cruisers out there.

Do a search on "Death Wobble", both here and on pirate 4x4.com. It could be a lot of things. They fall into two classes:

1) Tires, wheels and alignment.
2) Slop in anything that locates the wheel.
