Hi

Sorry about the title, its John Cleese's fault. Anyway, I'm new here so this is my intro I guess.

I reside in the centre of North America in a city called Winnipeg(I hear Americans thinking........Winnawhuh?). I'm the proud owner of a recently purchased 1990 HZJ77 fresh from its maiden voyage across the Pacific, and a very mint 77 I might add.

I had the pleasure of living in Australia a number of years ago where I was fortunate to get know a 75 series cab chassis well enough that I knew I would own something similar in the future. So its good to be on the "wrong" side of the truck again.

Its good to see such a great resource online that contains such a wealth of information. It will definitely come in handy.

Off topic, I tried searching for a DIY anti-theft procedure and didn't find much regarding the installation of a toggle switch in the fuel cut off circuit. I'll try again when I have more time, but if anyone can post a link(considering this intro I may be on my own) I would be indebted to you.

Thanks

Marc

Ah Welcome Toban!

HZJ77 is the best 70 series IMOP.

Lets see some pictures of this mint machine.

kills are easy. You can find the fuel cut off solenoid and splice the wires. There a few options. I have no FSM with diagrams for the 1hz, so I can't help ya there.

Now get it ready for winter eh. Lower rad hose heaters seem to do the trick. Might need the glowplugs checked over too.

Greetings seapotato and brownbear

Ah yes pics, coming up shortly. It seems the digital camera has taken a brief holiday.

Lower rad heater in place and ready for a Manitoba winter that will inevitably show its ugly face. Is a resistance reading a good check for the glow plugs? If so what ohm-age value should I look for?

I found the fuel cut off wire but it merges with many wires and based on my inexperience I have no clue where it terminates(relay, ignition switch?). I would assume most folks are locating their kill switches in the vehicle. I'll work at it some more.

Take care

Marc

Cut a wire where you see it, or follow it inside. Cut it and try to start the vehicle. If it starts re-connect the wire again. Try another....

I'm not sure how yours works. But it should be rather simple to prevent power to the fuel on solenoid.

For manuals maybe try JDM manuals, a vendor on mud. They have written me once before. I am looking for a HZJ81 FSM.

I'd have to say that I was not thrilled with my 77 in the snow and ice. The truck is so heavy and the suspension so stiff that it didn't take much to get her sliding. Of course, I wasn't using studs or chains, but all season Yokohamas in VG condition. Locking diffs are a good thing too where you are.

Hi Marc,
another HZJ77 in Winnipeg.l know of one for sale soon in Winnipeg.
We should get together.

Couldn't resist this one. Nice find, and pictures are absolutely required if you wish to retain your bragging rights. My rig is beat up, rusting, and not running so it's not worthy of pictures yet. ;)

HAVE AT THEE!
