I got stuck in the back yard 8)
While unstucking, the Newfields made a clicking noise in R with the wheels turned sharp. The front diff was locked. The front wheels were off the ground as I was high centered on the snowbank. I don't hear them while driving.
Is this normal for Newfields to click on full turn?

You need a winch. Then you could have just hooked up to your turd and yanked yourself out.

You should not be locked while trying to turn and back up. That's a bad move. Doesn't necessarily mean you'll break something that way, but not a good idea in my view.

Are you sure it was the newfields that were doing the clicking? In other words, can you duplicate the sound? I would not lock it and turn to see if I could replicate it, but check unlocked making a sharp turn. If clicking, then yes, sounds like you have issues. If not, there is always a chance it was something else (like your ego for getting stuck in the back yard :whapwhapwhap: :D

I was stuck, the frame was on the snow bank.
I was turning the wheel back and forth to unstuck my self.
It was like having the front end off the ground.
Are you saying the front should not be locked in deep snow or mud when trying to turn?

The few times that I locked my front diff in deep snow, proved to be a bad idea. The truck just wanted to go straight regardless of where the wheels were pointed.

High centered on a snow bank, nothing a shovel wouldn't have fixed.

    You from Maryland? :flipoff2:

Didn't you see that video where these bunch of yahoos tore a bumper off what I think was a Saturn after getting it stuck on a snow bank. It was classic stupidity in motion.

Having the front diff locked, in reverse and turning sharp is not a good idea from what I have read. Even in reverse, locked and pulling a heavy load (pulling out other truck) is not a good idea even with the wheels straight.

I've gotta admit that I'm a newbie with the lockers so I'm just repeating what C-Dan and others have posted in the past.

    I bet everything is fine.
