My beloved truck was stolen last night. Fingers crossed it shows up

And what's worse is because our insurance in Manitoba is government run its the only choice we have. Take it or leave it, so much for a democracy.

well, if it is replacement value then that would be good news.
if it is black book then you are fawked

what i would suggest is, wait till they make their final decision.
take the payout, buy it back from them (usually 10% of payout)
then sell the parts to recoup some of the loss

buy another fresh cruiser and swap the custom parts over ...

Already thinking that way but its my daily driver and can't be with out wheels. Just have to wait.

i'm with wayne on this one. It's what I did when I rolled my HJ61. took the payout and bought it back. Helped get me in the HZJ77 I'm in now

This happened to me RHD Corolla. Insurance companies don't have the knowledge to deal with RHD vehicles.

I'm with Crushers. Take the payout, buy it back and fix it or sell it. It will be branded as a "salvage" vehicle so selling it to someone not on mud will be harder.

You won't get much money for a total loss, because the insurance isn't going to have proper records of a RHD vehicle never sold in Canada. If you didn't have an appraisal or an insurance amendment (not sure the exact name). You will be lucky to get "market value" for it. They will also take weeks to handle the claim because it is not cookie cutter.

Good news is that the buyout will be peanuts, but you may have to look elsewhere for insurance on it.

If it is a total loss I can defiantly can and will buy it back but in manitoba our insurance is government run so its parts only because its older than 1995. But I have to wait probably another week because they are investigating the claim

Still waiting for my insurance they tell me at least one more week for them to finish looking into my claim, what ever that means. If it is a total loss I will buy it back and put it up for sale here as a parts only vehicle. In manitoba our insurance is government run and any vehicle that is a total loss they deem it irreparable. Unfortunately I don't have the time or the resources to build another right now. Maybe in a few years. But still hoping they will fix it

I realize this is like closing the barn door after the horse escapes but with a vehicle as rare and valuable as a 77 Series can it not be insured for a "known value" based on an appraisal letter from an importer or Land Cruiser specialist?
That is what I did with my HJ75 because the insurance companies are clueless as to the value of these types of vehicles.

i know a guy in the flat lands that called me for an "apraisal" of his 2 RHD cruisers
he walked away with $32K in his pocket.

you might want to think about it before you sign off

Any help I can get would be great. Wayne do you know anyone out this way that can do apraisals

Another two weeks go e out the window and still no decision from my insurance company. Wtf!!!!

No taking their sweet time investigating. I told them to give me a polygraph and get the show on the go. No dice

I often wonder why we even have insurance? They take your money and when you actually need them they find any loophole they can to not pay
