Another trip away; this time down to the Aoraki/Mt Cook region - New Zealand's highest peak.
We cruised down on an evening after work, about 2.5-3hrs drive from our place. It's an enjoyable drive, and in NZ we are lucky for the scenery to change dramatically over reasonably short distances. The first hour is flat plains/prairies, the second is foothills that lead to high, arid, dry alpine areas, the third is snowy peaks and glaciers. We are very lucky!
