Hi, I am repairing my break caliper. The cups/pistons have ceased due to rust. I pulled the cups out. The sides of the cups look ok with minimal pitting.
Someone advised me to sandpaper the internal bore of the caliper (where the cups/pistons sit) to remove any rust. Is this ok to do? and how much sanding do i need to do for fitting of the cups to ok for operation?
Thanks all

If pitted chuck out. plenty of parts over the creek down south of you. With the hills you have I would check all and replace

Hello,

x2.

Brakes are too critical a system for such a repair. Replace the rusted/seized parts and have the whole system checked and purged. Peace of mind is priceless.
