I feel the need to dump the HZ1 and go to a Cummins in my HZJ73 I think it might fit in place of the HZ. I know that most swaps are in 60 or 80s has anyone done this swap in a 73? Cheers

I have found the 5.9 bt is pretty close in size. Just alot taller about 4.5". 2" wider than the HZ. I looked at Turbo kits on the HZ is there that much difference other than injection pump and intake and of course turbo and injectors. Isn't HD-T direct port injected too? How much boost can the HZ handle. I would also build the intake ,exhaust manifold and water to air intercooler. Where could I find a used HD-T in BC? http://images.ih8mud.com/images/smilies/beer.gif

You could prolly sell yur 1hz for a decent dollar, GS cruiser parts sells the engines, the FT is the 24 valve direct injected engine.

I didn't know the there was a 24 valve Toyota Turbodiesel. What year is the HD-FT? How are they? I can get a 5.9 Cummins BT for $4500 complete with turbo.
Sound a nice proyect .. 6" of lift ycould clear the 6BT oil pan ( that it's the main issue ) and for sure your cruiser gotta rocks with this engine .. that actually have much more capabilities than any toy engine ..
