I don't know that much about Maxxis tires. Is anybody running these? Why or why not? I don't so much mind tire noise just want a good off road tire for around $160ea. or less in the 33-34.5" diameter range.

I can not speak to you as far as the Maxxis. What I can tell you is that I could not be happier with my Firestones. I have run many other tires that cost a lot more and in my opinion they don't compare. This tire is great! It self-cleans mud and snow as good as anything. It is a high pressure tire as well. So if you tow you don't have to worry, just air them up.. To top it off, they are in your price range... Follow the link!

I wondering about the Bighorn being siped and the Firestones not:hmm:

I did want the Firestones awhile back but decided against them because they weren't siped. I will be riding these on the road a lot but I want a mudder for when I do go off road.

maybe the spelling is wrong. I'm talking about the grooves in the tire tread for gripping on wet pavement.

Well I'll tell you this. I have had 0 traction issues in the rain. Like I said I could not be happier... Read the reviews on tirerack and no I don't work for either

I've got those on my 80, 255-85-16's. They work great. I've always been a big fan of BFG's and I was a little skeptical at first, but buddy talked me into these and I'm happy with the results. There is some noise, but its bearable. I came from 37" BFG Krawlers so my noise level is a little skewed.

"those" being Firestone?

And a shot the day they were mounted (A few days after I bought the truck).

I have them as well, see sig. They have been very good for an MT this winter in Denver.

They should have no problem holding up, they are 8 ply on the 255/85. There is negligible wear after 5K miles. Mine stand 32.5" loaded.

if your only concern is the siping just take them to your local tire shop and ask them to sipe them. I know just about every major tire shop here in washington has a siping machine. I think it is about $15-$20 per tire.

1). So the life expectancy of these tires is probably around 35K?
2). Anybody got anything negative to say about the Maxxis?
I like the look of the Maxxis too. If I can't find any negatives for the Maxxis I'll definitely give them a try. Now I'm thinking about going with a 315 Maxxis since it's a 34.6" tall tire and not a true 35.
3). I shouldn't have any trouble mounting these 315's on my stock rims right?

I didn't forget about your suggestion fzjconvert. It's in the back of my mind.

No problems mounting them to stock 80 wheels, they are 8" wide.

Negatives, poor execution of siping; too shallow in the tread, and not enough of them.

I have them in 31's on my pickup, and I love them. Been good to me so far, but they are still pretty new really.

I have no idea how long they will last, but I'm pleased with them so far.

The Maxxis Bighorn is a killer to rocks and mud. Better than the Maxxis Buckshot Mudder because of the rock capabilities. The Bighorn is the real deal. While Firestone makes a "good" light truck tire. Maxxis is out there every day at the mud races, Baja or on the podium at WE ROCK events. Maxxis is a beast and your Toyta will love them. They also are pinned for studs if you so choose..

Do you guys have any experience with the Maxxis Trepadors? The street radial version?

How bout a update on the Maxxis tires?
