Never been in this section... I'm a cruiserhead ! ;)

Anyway, now I need help from you guys for a friend who own a 2001 4runner 2001

How to remove the electric actuator from transfer case.

I have my thought but help of confirmation may help.

  • Did we have to remove the plastic cover, then the gear and pull out the actuator and leave the shaft in place

or...

  • We have to open the transfer case and undo the shaft actuator from the fork, then pull the actuator

Thank !

I'm not going to be much help, never took one apart... but if it is the same as a Taco I might be able to point you to some folks that can help.

It end by removing the cover, the gear, then the actuator and put all back in place.

I might be wrong - but it's my understanding that the first Gen Taco was the last vehicle sold in the US with a manual shift transfer case. My '03 Taco doesn't have that. But obviously 4RS were different.
