Hello guys,

I own a 1997 HDJ80 (turbo diesel) with drums brake and no diff lock. Well, I want to swap the complete rear axle for the disc brake and diff locker. Does anyone tell me how to recognize a bare axle with diff lock?
Thanks

Locked full float will have a motor on the diff and a bunch of electrical crap. The open diff has nothing

Get an open diff and add a locker imo

HDJ 80 drum brake is the parking brake, there is already a disc brake rotor attached to the PB drum.

An aftermarket locker is probably the way to go since you probably aren't set up with the wiring and ECU for the factory lockers. Probably no need for a new axle in that case.

FYI... The factory locker has a 5 wire connector and a 2-wire connector. The 5-wire monitors end travel and starts/stops/reverses the locker motor. The 2-wire plug comes from a physical switch for the locked position verification light on your dash.
