I am forced to lose the installed LRA aux fuel tank as it is not compatible with my 2007 Series 100. Therefore I now have that space again for a spare. However my 4x4Labs rear bumper will not have the access hole to secure or lower as OEM. Any recommendations how to mount a spare now?

Wait, why won't the LRA auxiliary tank work on an '07? It's the main tank that isn't compatible with U.S. spec late 100's, the auxiliary tank is the only option.

Long road to this conclusion. For another posting. Will exhume LRA 24 gal aux next week and go back to OEM. Will report.

Any chance you can cut/drill a discreet access hole in the 4x4 labs bumper, in order to access the spare tire “winch”, with the factory tools?

(If I remember from the OP’s posts in other threads, filling and evap system issues)

Yeah, just looked up the thread. Seems like there's plenty of troubles with the LRA aux tank on the 100 and 200 boards.

X2 on drilling a hole.

Is the only issue the access hole for the winch mechanism? Or does the 4x4 Labs crossmember intrude into the spare well?
Great question as I have to sort that as well. I tossed the mechanism and related parts making way for the tank and nowhere to store the old.

I’m pretty sure you have at least two hurdles. The largest is that the space left by the 4x4Labs bumper is too small for a conventional spare, let alone the somewhat oversized spare many of us are running. The second problem is that the 4x4Labs tow receiver butts into the 4x4Labs crossmember, blocking access to the tire winch. Even if you had the winch installed you would have to poke a hole through the center of one of the three primary supports for the hitch receiver in order to raise or lower a spare, significant weakening the towing capacity of the bumper.

I take it you aren’t interested in installing a tire swing out?
