How do you guys keep your coolant reservoirs in place?

Yesterday was going through some nasty stuff and I guess it got dislodged and fell down into the engine compartment open. Didn't notice it until this afternoon. Dumped about half my coolant.

It slides down into a channel type attachment. At the end it sort of clicks in. It is easy to pull up and out and slide back into place. My guess is yours was not in the channel. Can't see how it would fall out.

Was never an issue. Plus since I have dual battery and dual battery OEM fiberglass resin boxes there is no change of the reservoir going any where else.

It was slid down and in place. I checked a few weeks ago when I installed LEDs. I was going through some rough stuff yesterday.

On a related note, I must have driven about 50 miles yesterday with no coolant and I didn't overheat

You mean no coolant in the reservoir only right? Thats no big deal. Usually comes into play when the coolant passages are building up pressure and when the truck is off and cooling down. If you were driving the whole time, and everything else was ok, it wouldn't have been an issue.

BTW Im not saying its ok to NOT have a coolant reservoir. I'm only saying its fine for what happened to you and you found the issue and corrected it.

Yeah, I'm not going to drive it until I can go get the coolant flushed and refilled tomorrow. Just glad I found it. My reservoir has always been at the full line and now it is below the min line. I do still have coolant in the radiator, but still, too close for comfort.

Need to find a way to secure it to the clips, because it could have ended a lot worse. I soft rolled the truck yesterday into a swamp, maybe thats when it came undone xD

Is a flush needed? Edit: saw it was rolled into a swamp. Be nice for it to have sucked up some swamp water on an off chance. Most guys swear by Toyota Red but maybe you stumbled onto something. Organic matter transferring heat at a higher more efficient rate or something. Sell it by the jug. Any other problems resulting from this "roll"? Must have been traumatic to dislodge the reservoir.

Minor luckily. My sideview mirror bent in a way that I didn't know was possible, but didn't break. My low oil light came on, so now I know it works. I broke my CB crawling out of the truck. And I had a miniature heart attack when it happened. Luckily, it was low speed and soft. My buddy pulled me out and I went on my way. Dont wanna do that again!

I'm not a stickler for type of coolant. I'll prob pick something up from AutoZone. And start selling the organic swamp matter:)

Update: took it to Toyota. One of the clips on the reservoir broke off, which is probably what caused it to fall off. Bungeed it on now but gonna find a reservoir in a part out.
