my rear hatch handle stopped working. this is a massive pain since you can't access it at all from the back and have to crawl through the rear door past the seats to get it.
it's a ten minute job if someone helps you with the part number.
2 bolts to remove the cover piece and handle.
remove trim.
pull the rod out.
fish the remains of the grommet out of the hole. or off the rod.
insert new grommet into hole (don't slip it over the rod).
hold the handle open to get the mechanism to give you clearance to swing the new grommet to 9:00 to get room to force the rod from below up into the hole. then latch the grommet over it.
i'd carry this part in my spares if i didn't know i'd replaced it.
