how strong are stock 74 spring shackles?

:) thanks

Its an ambiguous question ,one that could be answered with "how long is a piece of string?"

Its obvious the components of a landcruiser are fully tested to a standard that wont let the rest of the vehicle down.
I would guess that by the time you are getting shackle damage you would be also getting bent diffs, cracks in the frame and broken mounts.

Which ones?:D Some are better ,some are worse. The Beltons I have on my 73 were cheap but they have lasted ok.

Hey Gold Boy, the stock shackles on the 4 cruisers I've owned (one in springover configuration) have held up fine. Nonetheless, I'm going to 3/8" thick anti-inversion when funds allow (pins on the rear of my JDM were seriously corroded/pitted when I did the bushings). Where in the Southern interior are you at...I'm in Greenwood.

I purchased a set of Anti-inversion shackles from Sprung Art out of Australia. They look to be the best quality I have seen yet. I compared them wiht the same style, other make on the shelf at a local 4X shop and they were heavier built and have protected grease nipples. I am still gathering parts before I install them so I can't tell you how they perform...
