My emergency brake boot is torn -- no biggie -- so I call a dealer in Wash. State (I'm in CT) and they say it's $22 -- that's their "Internet price" --

-- so, I call my local dealer for the same part -- it's an awkward call usually, since I have to ask for "Tony" to get his "special price" --

-- he says it's $22 also -- P/N 46243-60040-06

C-Dan, whats the list on this, and how come Tony's "special price" is identical to the other dealer's "Internet price" --

-- who pays wholesale anyway??

Toyota's published list price is $28.18. Anything over that is an "escalated" price, anything under that is less than list. Dealers are free to sell at whatever margin they like. Often a discount of "list less 20%" is a baseline for wholesale customers, in this case $22.54. We do not have a huge margin to work with like some other commodities such as apparael or furniture. When it gets much below 20 off of published list price it becomes a "gift". Gifts do not pay the rent on the building.

Bottom line is that you are getting a better price than 99% of the people out there no matter where you buy.

I prefer to shop in the southwest
