Hello all, Hopefully this is the correct place for this kind of post  I recently returned to school and daily driving the LX without a job (living off the savings) is starting to bleed me dry. The truck is in really nice shape with a few nice upgrades, some replacement / maintenance done relatively recently and the only real downside to it is that it does not have the factory lockers.

Some Upgrades:
OME Lift
7" In dash DVD/ CD / MP3 player
13" Flip down screen in the rear
Alarm with keyless entry and remote start
OEM Lexus tow package
HID headlights
Waag front brush guards
Waag rear taillight guards
Waag Fog lights with high/ low beams

Maintenance:
Oil Change
Diff fluid changed
Brakes on all 4 corners have about 10K on them
Air filter

Following parts replaced about 20K ago:
Catalytic convertors
All belts
Main Seal

Overall the truck is really nice, it has a little wear on the leather, and a few light "pin stripes" from trees that could probably be buffed out. AC blows ice cold the sunroof does not leak, truck has about 165K on it now and runs like a dream. I have all 3 factory Lexus keys, all of the original paperwork (even the $51,000 window sticker!) and a bunch of the service records.

I know anything is worth what someone is willing to pay but I don't want to lowball myself or start out laughably high. Any help is greatly appreciated! :D

Thanks for looking :flipoff2:

How many miles?

Having recently surrounded myself with the local market, I'd say that's about a $9K rig around here, assuming you found a buyer.

I just paid $7500 for a bone stock one with lockers in very good condition. There are plenty for sale in the $9 - 11K range, but not many are moving at those prices. The aftermarket suspension, A/V, damage multiplier, are of some value, but not a whole lot to the average buyer.

I would have gladly paid you $8K or maybe $8500 a couple weeks ago.

I just bought a really clean 1997 LX450 with an extensive and fully documented service history in fantastic fully original condition. It has 120k miles. The major 120k mile service had just been done 3k miles ago. I paid $11k. With your mods and mileage I would have paid $8500.

165k is gettin up there, even for a truck in right shape. I think it may be *worth* that amount, but I suspect you might have trouble finding someone who is willing to swing 8-9k for a truck with almost 170k on the clock.

I picked up my truck several months ago. I payed 10k for a '95 in immaculate condition with lockers and 70k miles. YMMV

Thats a really good deal.

I feel it was. Like many, I plan to keep this truck for the rest of its lifetime. I am just glad I found it when I did.

Also, that was before I went on a damage hot streak. In less than 3 months of ownership, I have had my windshield smashed in, 2 panels keyed, keys stolen and my rear bumper crunched  :bang: :meh:

BUT! As I like to say, there is a silver lining to everything. Now I have brand new windshield (surprising difference compared to a 14 year old one), new set of locks (which were sticky anyways) and a custom rear bumper in the works from mike @ bumpitoffroad

:D

Just curious, EVERYONE else that asks this question we all skewer and tell them to go to classifieds and pick a price and deal. But this guy seems to be getting a free pass this time around. Just curious.

Maybe because its the best year of the best color of the best badging :flipoff2:

And no one has harassed hm about the damage multiplier either :flipoff2:

Its getting close to friday and everyones in a good mood. ;)

I have a final tomorrow. Trust me, I am not in a good mood

I'm just a nice guy :flipoff2:

I just finished my last system final which is nice, but I'm a still a little on edge. I'm too burnt out to skewer anyone. I try not do do much skewering anyway.

OP, That is a good looking cruiser. I agree with Joey that it is a good looking color. Not as :grinpimp:looking as black, but it is good looking. There is a champagne one in my neighborhood and I keep wanting to go look at but my :princess: doesn't think its a good idea. It appears to be a 4th or 5th vehicle for the family (non DD) and I have hopes that they might be willing to get rid of it someday.

Perhaps you could show some undercarriage pics to help lure potential buyers.

What's it worth? Silly question...it's worth what someone is willing to pay...and all of you saying "I'd buy it for $XXX" or "$YYYY" well then buy it?

IMO, ostensibly clean truck...not a rust belter, so someone will pony up more for that, but I'd say given a total sh*t economy, and duh, anyone seen the rise in fuel lately? Well, guess what, it's goin back up and it will NEVER be close to a buck-a-gallon again...given all that, I'd say in your local market and not to a Toyota dork like any of us...no more than $6.5k, and that I think is being generous.

Please boys (and girls?) show me some similar ones that have changed hands to non-toyota dorks for near $10k.

Do it!

I'll amend that, if I got underneath it and it looked clean, maybe in the 7s. But "E rock" looks to have availed himself of the local market.

And as always, rush to sell=lower price

lower price=faster sale

And get all those stickers off that thing man...and s'up with the rear wiper! What's it doing cleaning off the tailgate? Center it man, 10mm nut and about about a minute's worth of work.

SO sell it to a Toyota dork. There are two people in this thread that ponied up 10k for superb rigs, and both are toyota dorks. Would I have dropped 10k on his rig? No way, maybe 6-8, but I don't care about the fancy electronics and wouldn't have bought one without lockers. Half the battle of selling a vehicle is finding your audience, sometimes craigslist isn't the best way.

However, I agree with your bottom line SBFJ60. 6.5k is generous for a vehicle with 170k miles, when sold to a random buyer.

Touche UC Berk, I have the unfortunate POV though of having bought a my 97 Factory Locked LX450 last summer for $6,000 RIGHT FROM THIS site. And IMO, no f-ing way would I pay 8-9k for a truck that old, with that many miles.

To be fair, my truck did have a slight exhaust leak, coulda used a birf repack when I got it (acutally still does, I'll get to it someday) and was from PA, so underneath she's got some surface rust. But the body is super-d-duper clean, no dents anywhere. Interior, clean, but leather is worn for sure, but not terrible.

And for sure, there is some Toyota dork (FTR, I am a Toyota/Honda dork), or regular uninformed John Q. Public out there who might pay up for that rig as it sits, but indeeed, the challenge is FINDING that person, and putting the truck under their nose. Timing is everything!

Good luck it doing that!

There was a pretty clean '96 for sale in Wichita shortly after I bought mine. 189k, overall pretty clean and in good working condition, no lockers. $5k OBO must sell. Too bad it popped up AFTER I bought mine, damn it.

Just got home from school and saw all the replies! Thanks guys for all of the input on the price and on what others have paid for similar ones. The truck has about 166,XXX miles on it right now and runs perfectly. I will get some pics of the undercarriage for anyone who is interested but rest assured it is completely rust free. When I did the brakes every bolt came undone smooth as silk!

If anyone wants to check it out sometime I am in Bellingham and I go to Kirkland / Bellevue almost every weekend to see the :princess: .

The damage multiplier is off of the truck right now also. It comes with it but I personally likes the look of it without. The stickers will be removed before the truck is sold (it's my brothers company I am trying to help him promote a bit).

For the couple of people wondering why I didn't get a hard time..... well maybe it's just because I'm such a nice guy :flipoff2: or maybe it's because of my extremely low post count so people think I don't know any better :whoops:

Thanks again for the info, and I'll straighten that rear wiper ASAP :flipoff2:
