No, we are not talking about in-laws or the number of children here. :D

How about having around 180 80's in one place at the same time!

We just got back from the annual two-day event held by the Land Cruiser 80 Freaks, the 4th Dynamite!:

    http://landcruiser80.com/event/2005/

The weather was iffy at first as it was raining and was foggy. But it got better from then on.

The event was filled with fun activities for all to enjoy, including auctions, vehicle security (specific to the 80 series, with break-in demonstration), vehicle dress-up contests, fire works, tug of war (time trial, pulling variously modded 80's, etc...)

We got to mingle with many 80's owners from many parts of the country and it was pretty cool!

I would love to attend again next year.

Hope you can get some sense of the fun atmosphere it created.

The white one here is one of the four 80's we used in tug of war. Two men, four women, and 16 children pulled them for maybe 40-50 ft and competed time for prizes!

    Thanks, Eric! :flipoff2:

Here are pics of the group shot, the location (by Mt. Fuji) and OEM rear tire carrier mirror (sorry the order is kinda messed up).

    Time trial

Here are some pics from the time trial.

The location was an off road vehicle park located near Mt. Fuji with places you can go four wheeling. It was my first time, but it was pretty cool.

This is a pic of the kids pulling the 80! (In less than 12 seconds, faster than many adult teams ;p )

    FYI: Rear AC pics

I know some of you have asked in the past pics of it in the past and I had a chance to get to check a rig with one up close.

    More ac

Here you can see the control panel which is located by the overhead vents. There are three vents facing the rear (3rd-row occupants) and two facing forward.

Also, you can see the clear "tube" that on the right-hand side of the vehicle.

And the other pic shows you the square/rectangular magnetic sensor for the JDM OEM overhead compass unit (behind the room light).

    Jenny,

I have the tail lights (all clear, all crystal-clear, red/clear (regular(1 set in Utah)/crystal)), if you are interested.

I have the visor, too, but I only bought one for myself to use in the US. They are no longer manufactured (so they say), but I "think" I still might be able to get one.

Too cool. I had no idea that building 80's was THAT popular in Japan.

very different look from the parking lot at Moab! great photos MOT

smokey is the coolest truck there! dig those crazy taillights! outasight. what are those white lines emanating from top corners of his rear window?

those red and green tow straps on some of the trucks remind me of giant versions of those garter belts people used to hang on their rear views

also interesting to see what huge tires they can get on oem carriers. I know I don't want to know how much the carriers are but I guess I am curious.

    That would be cool!

You might (or not) be surprised to know that this year the event attracted more than double (I believe) than the last year's. So it should continue to grow, at least for the next year or two. ;)

    Cory,

I kind of knew, I guess, but seeing it/them all in one big place was quite an experience, that's for sure.
