Hey guys. Returning after a 'Mud hiatus with a '71 FJ43. Titled as a 71 but seems to be a Frankenstein with 79 parts as well.. Had a cheap resto in Columbia and will be arriving at my place next week. I'm in North FL, so the wheeling is kinda lame but will be DD it and the kids can learn to drive a manual. Would appreciate suggestions as it comes together. Pics below.

Current Plans:
4" Alcan Springs (+150# front, 300# rear) + thinking Bilstein 5125s
35" Geolanders, stock widened wheels
Metal Tech Cage
Aqualu Half Doors

Huh, Thread title change ?

yeah felt like the whole "grocery getter" thing is played out and lame. what've you done to your 43?

So I don't have a FJ43. But I do have two 1976 FJ40's that are in various stages of rebuilding and i am also in North Florida Freeport area.

Not much, nuts and bolts frame offs on both o_O

Yours doesn't have the looks of a 71, what happened?

macdaddy that's over by Panama city right? I'm 30 min east of Tallahassee about 2hrs away.

..bet you're glad the frame offs are done. This is an import from Columbia, hence the unique hard top and other things

I had a shop dye the seats/trim in the 43 since it came over with the bright peach interior. they did good work

what do you guys think about 35x10.50 SSR's vs 12.50's on a 43 with 4" Alcans and extended shackles? Fit better without rubbing?

Thx for pointing that out JBlatz. Sure it needs some tweaking when it gets here next week from the upholsterer.

Nice! I have just got mine back on the road. Carburetor (FJ Jim) put it on after rebuild and three months, started on the first try, fuel tank, fuel pump, radiator, ignition switch, water pump, fixed leaking timing cover, rebuilt license plate holder/lights, etc., lots of little stuff.
One major problem, seat is to close to steering wheel, I am 6’3” 230. I have a hard time pushing the clutch in. Thinking I will take to custom metal shop and re-do seat brackets. Or lose weight!

Nice. heard FJ Jim does great work. Always lots of little things on these. One of my favorite additions so far is the redline hood lift. pretty cheap and works great.

Update. 4" Alcans and Bilstein 5125's. widened factory wheels, powdercoated with hubcaps. 35" geolanders. great ride.

Also added Aqualu half doors, 12k winch, LED headlight and driving light bulbs, new TCase and driveshaft and Yellow Top Optimas

Alcan was great. spendy and bit of a lead time but the springs ride exceptionally well.

And fixed the anti inversion shackles. but trying to find new bushings for the frame side hangars

Metal Tech FJ43 cage is in. Bent up some lower bars between the b/c pillars for jumpsuit belt mounts. Found some clip on belts from an HH60 copter on ebay which work great.
