Yep, grab an Auber digital gauge and probe. They are nice and fast and it's far easier to see changes in temp, compared to an analogue gauge.

Just search eBay. This is very similar to what I installed in my first Prado: DIGITAL EGT THERMOMETER PYROMETER W/ PROBE-NPT, Amber 701098737969 | eBay

Just make sure that it has a K-type thermocouple that has adjustable depth, somewhere in the 1.25-1.5” range. There are several good spots to install an Auber gauge in the dash of a 70; here is a shot of the one I did:
