How close can I let leafs ride under the frame? (1 Viewer)

Hello all,
Finishing up my SOA and leaf reversal and trying to decide where to mount my in frame shackles. The image below shows about 1.25" of clearance sitting with average GVWR. Is that enough? or am I asking for trouble in big flex situations. As a note there won't be linear movement on the shackle. I will very likely put some angle in it. Nothing to wild though, maybe 60-65 degree, still doing some research on that part.

Nobody can really answer this for you as each situation is different. Make your best guess, and plan on tweaking it later when you get some real world data when actually driving it. Also, your springs will flatten out over time, so even the perfect spot now, won't be perfect after everything has settled. Plan on making it relatively easy to change the location on the frame.
