Hello mudders,

Putting up the Lexus for sale because honestly, we have two very young children and I haven’t been able to do the things I wanted to do since having our first child in 2020 and so the LX basically sits and collects dust in the driveway. We have six vehicles at the moment so no more room for the LX!

I bought the 98 from a professor at Auburn who was the second owner back in March of 2019 bone stock with the hopes of making a cool adventure mobile. I did nearly all the maintenance myself except the timing belt and most recently the entire HVAC system. I bought it with 222k miles and currently it sits with 272k miles. It was used as my daily work vehicle for the first year and light use in 2021. In 2022 it just sat around.

Some of the work that’s been done maintenance wise include:

OEM heater hoses and T’s

OEM CV axles and all related bearings

Timing belt change using all OEM parts at 248k miles

Aisin blue clutch fan replacement

Nippon Denso AC compressor

AC condenser

Upgrades include :

Falken Wildpeak AT3W 275/75/16 on all 5 wheels

ECCPP 1.5” bolt on spacers

Wells Visors

eBay special snorkel

MetalTech sliders

Depo clear corner lights

LED everything

Ironman front bumper

Ironman 7” driving lights

Apex Badland 12k winch with synthetic rope

SDHQ billet terminals

Gamiviti multi brackets

Ironman awning

Yakima rocketbox cargo box

ASFIR front skid plate

YOTAMD titanium reinforced key

2002 second row seat (because it has the latch system for kid seats)

Not installed but will come with :

Ironman rear springs

Air lift bags

OEM Lexus rear chrome trim (for lift gate)

Freedom off-road Upper control arms

OEM original 3rd row seats

The good:

AC is stupid cold (rear too!)

AHC works as advertised

Super duper dependable

Never left me stranded (on or off road)

No rust

The bad:

Steering rack will need to be replaced soon

Random things that don’t work:

Power sunroof (stuck)

Power adjustable steering column

Front leather seats are ripped

The ugly:

Faded roof

Faded hood

Asking price is $14,999 obo

Will post as many photos as I can!

This needs to go asap! Dropped price to $10,000

How much does it cost to replace a steering rack?
The rack itself (last time I priced it out) from Toyota is about $500, and I was planning to replace it myself. I'm not sure what the costs are if you were to have someone else do it, but there's a fair amount of labor involved per usual.

I’m interested in this but wondering why others don’t seem to be.
TBH I have no idea. I know it needs the steering rack serviced but besides that, I can only blame the less than desirable color.

If you’re local, you’re more than welcome to come check it out. Or we can FaceTime or video chat in real time.

Carfax file available as well.

Yep

i had my rack replaced as well as the outer tie rod ends and cracked bushings and the total was $1,550 for parts and labor.

You still have it? I'd love to come look at it, I'm in Lafayette and will be in the area on 6/17.
Still here.
I’ve yet to list this anywhere else, so unfortunately between work and family life, I have put off on trying to actively sell this sucker!

Keep it! I was in the same boat when my youngest was born in 2017. They grow up fast and love the "MSAW" (Michael and Sully's Adventure Wagon). Just my $0/02.

If I wasn't in the market for another cruise I would also say to keep it but.....lol! Shoot me a text/call 337-316-0034

I'm interested in taking a look at it and I'm in Houston as well. What's the best way to get in contact with you?

Friendly bump. Only one person has actually come to see this LX, not sure if I am posting the wrong things?

RE: Steering column
Is it the power tilt or the power telescoping that's the problem?
both?

Also interested.
Sorry I don’t know how I missed this message but it’s both I believe.

Bump!
