If you use the account Dixieland Cruisers when ordering you will get a 20% Discount.

I used the discount at Hoover Toyota last week! THANKS!
I needed parts ASAP and knew getting them from the local counter was going to be the fastest, so I used them. While it won't be my "go to" place, its for sure a great step in getting a local dealer involved like HOT South has. Penney is like no other dealership around. HOT South is fortunate to have them as a sponsor dealership.

Thanks for your input @McDowra super terrific suggestion!

If I was going to Hoover Toyota for parts i'd be sure to walk in with the part number. I've never had any good experience with that guys that work at the desk there.
Last time I went I needed brake pads for the cruiser. They had none in stock yet all the other dealerships around Birmingham did. Whats up with not at least having one set?

Or have things gotten better around there?

I wouldn't know, I've never not gone to a parts counter without knowing exactly what I was looking for. In lieu of the 10 digit part number, they have exploded diagrams they can click on and and you can show them. That's what I did for the hub dowels and cone washers. That guy you speak of was wanting to order wheel studs, not hub studs. So he flipped the screen around and I pointed them out.

Is this story the reason you put old pads on your new rotors?

I always look the parts up HERE

Last time I bought parts there they gave me a 93+ thermostat for my 92 3fe. Needless to say I ended up with most of a bottle of toyo red in the driveway later that night. They did throw in another bottle iirc after I pitched a fit.

Good work on the discount though, I wiould go back in a pinch with the part number

I operate a retail business so I probably see things a bit differently. Criticism is always welcome but most of us expect to be criticized in person and given an opportunity to make amends before a public criticism is made. Also, this only came up because I made a post about them offering a discount. There was no other thread regarding these complaints. So, them trying to do something good netted them this thread.

The pads still had tons of material on them. So they are practically new. Do you always put new rotors on when you do pads ?

Last time I was at the parts desk at Hoover Toyota he never let me look at the screen. He just told me the part was discontinued and he couldn't get it. I got back to him with a part number and he suddenly found it. He didn't try very hard to find the part.

I just always use Onur. He can get the parts to me just as fast as a dealership having to order it. He gives a good discount and he knows his stuff when it comes to cruisers. Most of all you're supporting his business.

If I put on new rotors I always do new pads. If the rotors aren't warped I clean them up with some sand paper to knock the glaze off and install new pads. I dunno why I do this but I do.

Listen.
Don't want to use them. Don't. Want to use someone else. Do that. Be done.

Connor, you need to research brakes and what the proper protocol is for when replacing brake parts. I'm not getting in to a pissing match with you on this. But the other day when you were in the shop, using my shop and my knowledge, I noticed your new rotors wearing unevenly, and even questioned if the pads were not new. That was what I noticed. It was not told to me until I noticed it. So yes. You ALWAYS put new pads on new rotors. Not ALWAYS vice-versa. Don't listen to me, or the parts counter guy, because you hate both of us. Listen to everyone else who says that.

I'm out. The stench of piss is overwhelming.

The pads were not gouging the rotors before I swapped them. And they aren't gouging anything now. Someone is just hurt over the fact that I didn't do things their way

It Is nice to have a local source for us bham folks when you need stuff in a hurry. The parts manager was more than willing to set this up so I wanted to let you guys know.

If I was going to Hoover Toyota for parts i'd be sure to walk in with the part number.

To bring this back to the positive I think this sums it up.

Good work girupb getting them to agree to this. Several of us have asked in the past without the same result.

Big Kudos to Hoover Toyota for the offer, everyone should at least keep them in mind and just know that it would probably be best to go ahead and have the part number handy and double check it before you take anything apart.
