Any of you guys got a part or pic of something you have used, or currently using that works for venting the engine bay thru the top of the hood?

I'd love a louvered panel that has a slide on the inside that I can shut when needed.

If you got 'em, post em up please.

there is at least one guy who did that who posted pics in the 80 forum that I remember

Only one I remember seeing is a guy that put a Scooby (Subaru) scoop on his hood but that was more for cold air in that hot air out. That would be cool to have vents that you could close.

Treeroot did the louvers... It's on my list just gotta find someone locally to do it..

damn that's some sexy stuff right there...

yeah, I want that!

SO.....still looking for a shop that can do 5" louvers....nobody up here has the die set over 3".....
I'll buy the beer for the guy who can find a dude with the right set of dies.

Let me see what I can find out about the guys I was refered to.. Since it was down the road I never called..

It took approximately fifty phone calls to find the 'guy'. A typical punch is only good for about a 3" louver. For larger than 3", a Pullmax machine is the only way to go. On my search, I found a guy who used to own one. I called him, called the guy he sold it to, etc. Short story long, I found the current owner and he was able to hook me up. So, ask if they have a Pullmax. ;)

well, I found a guy in Huntington Beach, but his machine is up in Hesperia.
Said he could do it no problem. But I forgot to ask if it was a pullmax. I think it's just a die cut.

he'd do the two rows I wanted, and snip the supports out in the back where needed, also would take off the paint to bare metal and return it to me with a light spray of primer.

for 2 bills....plus it was something I'd have to leave with him for a 2 day minimum.
But then I asked if I met him up in the high desert paradise of Hesperia, would he do it in a one day turn around, and he said he could.

Either way it's a full day of driving for me basically, then I'd have to do it all over again to go get it back.
HB is a solid 2 hours from here, and so is Hesperia. With good traffic. And I don't have another vehicle that my hood will fit in.

I found the sheets that you can weld in, but I think they look cheesy. Kinda like a butchered washing machine lid pasted into the hood. Since I don't have a welder, it's something I'd have to fab up/ or pay for and hope for the best.

I told this guy I could have a few more hoods for him, how about a price break? not so much....oh well, you gotta try , right?

Hmmmm that sounds like a deal... Just take off the hood and get it to him in Huntington and then pick it up a few days later?? Not a big deal since the hood needs paint.. Are they 5 inch?? And 200?? Might have to give it a shot..

yeah, 5" x 5 slots, in two places.

Sir Michaels is the shop.
They are moving too, so expect a bit of shuffling, but they'll do it if you are flexible.

I am in Long Beach and have a small trailer...I can help haul/store it if you need.
