Hood prop- cheap alternative to gas cylinders! (1 Viewer)

I don't know if someone has already done this but 80's early 90's Toyota mini truck hood props fit 80 series cruiser! In fact the holes are already there on the 80! Just take the plastic clips and rod off the mini truck and install! I did this on my 1993 landcruiser using a 1989 mini truck rod and clips! I left the cylinders on also! You have to bend the rod some but not much! Save your money on buying the cylinders! Hope this helps some one!!

I think the 60 series hood prop will bolt in to an 80 too.

Aren't cylinders only like 20 bucks a pair? That's what I paid for my hatch struts.

Cheap struts can be purchased on Amazon.

Also you can bend a Tacoma support to fit.

Rod is $5 @ pick n pull. Clip and grommet are still available @ dealers. Some are longer than others.

New gas struts on Amazon. Hood and rear hatch where like $60 for all. First thing I did. To this day I'm amazed at the amount of people who go out of their way to carry a piece of wood or gold club to prop up stuff.
