Have you combed the classifeids on this board? You can get the kryptonite out put flanges from the Tarzakastahn models that were only used for two days in Apr of 59 on right hand drive steam driven models with PTO well pumps if you look hard enough. And some body knows somebody that can recrome it or whatever it might need.

but JTO has billit hood swans
PMK

Why do you hate to say it??

I think SOR may sell used ones, but the last time I checked they were quite proud of them.

Your best luck will be in the classifieds on this board, if not someone on Pirate might have it.

Hey,

looking at a 64 FJ40, guy doesn't have hood ornament, are these available anywhere or are they unobtanium?

Noah
What are you looking for ... the chrome strip? FJ40s never had a hood ornament, it was the FJ25s that came with the T-bird. PM Land Cruiser Junky here if that's what you were looking for ... don't think he'll make you one for a 40 though (he makes them out of brass and has them chromed).

Cheers!

Yes your 25's have the front " T " ornament....along with one on the center of the hood.

Oh, and they have been discontinued for some time now...

If you pick up a billet one, post up some detailed pics.

FYI I tried Cruiserparts.net about three weeks ago No Go ! Then took my bent up (I had no hope for !) Hood ornament (the long one for fj40s ) to the locol chrome shop just got it back a couple days ago thay did a beauitiful job just like new  35$ Vs JTO 54$ and the ride....JC

I got mine at the local pick and pull for 1$. It might be worth a couple of calls to some junk yards in your area. Albee

I bought one of the billet ones a while back, then compared it to the stock one that I also had and both had just about the same lines and dimensions.

I was actually impressed by the way the billet one looked

Reviving an old thread. I'm also eyeballing the billet from JTO. What's the dealio? Sounds like your were happy with it.

it was for a customer's car, he was very happy with the end results......

thanks for the reply. I'm gonna give it a go.

Having carefully examined an original hood spear and then photos of the original, I'd have to say they are a decent option. If I was to buy one I'd hand modify it and then polish it. The original was imperfect in many ways... they were quickly hand made for a utility vehicle.

Here's the one I made using the JTO one for inspiration...

When made of a high grade aluminum, only a true purist can tell the difference. Most of us have never seen one in person.

A damn fine job! You must be one of those folk that knows metal work. I wouldn't know where to start. I did think it might be cool to make one out of wood...as I was thinking to try to make an upper dash pad out of wood, too. They would be a nice compliment to each other...in my dreams at least. I ain't no woodworker neither! But the entry point for working a piece of wood seems more accessible than with metal.
