How did yours turn out?

Mine turned out great.

I just smoothed out all of the edges and corners really well on the gutter clamp so there was nothing to catch on the rubber, and never added a ramp. It seems to work fine. I also added a little Sil-Glyde on the rubber. More pictures here: Roof rack build.

Thread revival. I'm currently fabricating a roof rack for my FZJ80. On a different vehicle, I made some gutter mounts using 10 gauge u-channel (see below). I'd like to use a similar design for the current project, but the door seal on the '80 is much closer to the gutter and the door seal will catch/rub on the u-channel when opening and closing the door. Has anyone else had this issue or have any suggestions? View attachment 2329099

Gamaviti towers would make quick work for mounts.

I make them for whenever wants them, here the “Low pro” design, most just want a flat top no “basket”

I would buy gutter brackets instead of making them is my only suggestion if you making your own racks.

it takes longer to make one mount than the whole rack itself
