I went to Hollister this weekend for the Molina Ghost Run and I have developed an opinion on the place. I don't like it. First, and this is the biggest thing, too much poison oak. It was everywhere. It's hard enough keeping an eye on a 3 year old boy let alone keep him out of the PO. Inflicting that sort of misery on myself isn't my idea of a good time. Second, It seemed to me that the trails were super easy or over the top hard (tank trap). The obstacle course was good but I got board after a while. Camping facilities were nice, the fire rings suck ass, there seems to be a fair amount of shade. I don't see myself being a participant in the Ghost Run again while it's being held there but I will commit to being on the committee again.

Cool pictures. I agree. It is not the place to go out of the way to visit.

I've wheeled there 50+ days in my life... If you dont like mud it sucks... if you go there 9months out of the year... It sucks even more.

Was five fingers or truck hill closed?

On big weekends its fun to watch the local meth head bring out his 86 2wd S-10 with tire chains and beat the living hell out of it. I rather him do it there then on trails WE have to maintane.

and the tech is where???

I hate poison oak with a passion. The fact that you said there is a lot of it there makes me never want to go, period. I just got back from a camping trip last weekend where I got a s*** ton of poison oak all over me. I can't explain to you my frustration with that stuff.

Love the rig, my FJ62 is getting its SOA this May. We'll have to do a wagon run up in the shaver lake area.

As for TECH: Any information on front upper shock mounting location and why would be beneficial as I am coming to that situation soon.

I'm not familiar with the obstacles there so I can't answer that.

This is more of a trip report rather than tech. Do you want me to move it?

Did you get the cell phone pic i sent you?

Ford towers. Mounting them will depend on what shocks you use and what shape your springs are in.

How do you like your wheels.

More tech

yeah p.o. is the debil. but anywhere that i can get far enough away from citys theres usually p.o. so eather way you look at it your gunna hate some part of whats around you.

I have not picked shocks yet as I thought that flexing my suspension was required first in order to determine what length shocks were required. I will be running stock FJ60 springs and stock shackles for that matter too.

Where has this truck been hiding? WOW f'n love it! Nice to see it getting wheeled hard too.

Edit: I am retarded. Maybe I can find a buildup right next to your buildup thread link?

Five fingers and truck hill are in the back, where the jungle trail ends. They close it in the summer because of the dust. But there is usally what's left of a truck at the bottom of the hill.

No pic...iphone's don't get pics... But I can close my eyes and let my mind wander
