Which truck is "Hemphill"? Is it the white 4R?

Was it repaired in the field?

Nice run!

I need to get a ham... I had no idea this happened. I hope everyone made it home ok.

great trip! fuel pump issue is, I believe, a combination of factors. and for the record, I was only towed the last 1/2 mile or so. it had 1 issue on day 1, none the second day. then day three, we started pushing hard to get to the trail head. that's what was hard on the fuel pumps.

so it looks like, fuel starvation heats up the low press. pump, it can't keep up or stops and the high press. ( the one i thought was the problem) gets air. any air past that pump and a multi port FI can't run. a hot floor board adds to this problem. right now, I think low fuel levels and the low press pump are the main culprits. I 'll be working on this. on snow runs, I've never had a problem. it's always long, hot day, rock runs.

and BIG thanks to SteveLCetc and Beowulf for helping tow my 40 trailer to the trail and back home! also Stickers for some extra fuel. I'll get some $ to Sara and some homebrew and whatever favors you 2 guys need in the future.:D

What's up with Onur's rig?

What's up with Onur's rig?

^ same question here. Good report on what looks like a fun trip. Mechanicals are never fun...as evidenced by all those that have worked on my junk on similar Utah trips :D

Onur's rig had a bolt fall out of the york compressor mount and the bouncing broke the other mount. no belt was on it and the fan was only minorly hit, so we pulled it and rode on.

the start to the whole trip almost caused me to miss the whole thing. in the am to leave, I was getting the last stuff loaded. went to put the cruisr on the flatbed, and it wouldn't start. no fuel pumps running, but it turned over. Steve H stops by the get the 40 trailer and we are checking it over. new fuel pump relay does nothing. we find no power to the under hood fuse block. we jumped the fuse block and got it started, loaded, but have to get under the hood and pull the jumpers to turn it off. we can rig something up at camp, the rest of the group left and we were 1-2 hours behind. more to come...

Steve is 30 miles or so in front of me, I get to just outside Cuba and blow a trailer tire. and quick change, and I see the spare is separating. I checked all tires including the spare the day before for pressure and separation! so we turned back to Cuba and their local tire shop. they have 2 trailer tires, in different load ratings, but I can use the lesser for a spare, so they start putting them on. another guy pulls up with a camper with a blown tire. he needs the same one I just bought. hey, my luck is maybe turning. Jill and I consider just turning home again. it's 2:50 and we are in Cuba, supposed to meet the group in 10 mins in Utah. we push on. in ship rock, my dash beeps and says "trailer disconnected". what! it is still on and must be an electrical thing. lights all still work, so we keep going. no other incidences till getting to the camp, but I still had to rig the cruiser to start. the next morning at airdown, I actually found the problem. the wire that connects my ignition switch to the engine harness came apart. easy fix and we are off!

Great trip folks. Thanks for making the long drive.

Hope everyone got home safe and sound.

Regards.
