A friend of mine just got a Dutch 100 here in Panama and no one can fix it does any one have an actual pricture of the engine and any info?

Any help is apriciated.

Thanks

Help with what exactly?
What is wrong with it?
There are lots of pictures on the internet I'm sure, I could maybe drag some out, but what is the picture of the outside of an engine going to do for you?

I have tried but can not find any imiges. The car was brought to the Toyota dealer here USD6000 and the problem still persits. Loads of smoke and wont go over 80Kph. Loads of oil coming out of the breather pipe when you dirive the car quite hard.

The reason for the picture is that there a few bolts and sensors missing and i would like to know what they were for.:ban:

Which breather pipe?
What is coming out the exhaust?
Have you replaced the fuel filter?
Is the fuel contaminated with water or unleaded?
What does the engine oil look like?
Is the coolant clear?
Is the air cleaner clean?
Does the engine rev freely in neutral?
Does it start easily or need cranking?
Pull the inlet off the turbo and feel if it is free?

Hot water for heating for cold climates
What about the rest?

Which breather pipe?
What is coming out the exhaust? Balck smoke
Have you replaced the fuel filter? Not yet
Is the fuel contaminated with water or unleaded? No
What does the engine oil look like? Quite bad and smells of Diesel
Is the coolant clear? Red coolant. What Toyota uses here
Is the air cleaner clean? Yup
Does the engine rev freely in neutral? Yes
Does it start easily or need cranking? Needs a bit of Cranking but after the 3 time starts fine
Pull the inlet off the turbo and feel if it is free?
Yes but there is a bit of play both un and down and back and forward

Sorry, the power keeps going off here, lightening storm, I keep writing and power goes off and I lose it all.

Sounds like to much fuel (pump or electrics) or incomplete combustion (valves/pistons/rings)
Also if there is excessive blow by from the tappet cover then it sounds like major engine components, rings/pistons/liner etc.

Run the engine at idle with all hoses connected.
Undo the oil filler cap an see if the cap will sit on the engine while running, or does the blow by want to lift the cap up and push it off? If there is excess blow by then you are in trouble.

When the engine is running, you could crack each injector and make sure the engine runs rough each time you do it so it proves all cylinders are firing. If you had a compression gauge you could check all cylinders.
I am not a diesel mechanic but if you do the tests above and find excessive blow by or one cylinder not working (does nothing when you crack the injector) then you have a major problem.

You may also have fuel leaking into the sump from the fuel pump.

The guys on the diesel/international forum may have some more relevant info

Oh I forgot, do the easy stuff first.
Check your oil level, is it too high??
This will create foaming/splashing etc, could be caused someone overfilling or fuel leaking from the pump into the crankcase or through a hole in a piston.
Drain the fuel filter and get any crap out of it, change it if possible.

Can anybody else chime in here and shoot me down in flames, or give any other points to check. Not sure when panamalexus will be back, but I would like to think or know if I have sent him on the correct track!

Thanks for the great info will go and try all this out this evening I know where to get a guge to check compression as well.
