Are there any HJ75 pickups in the U.S. ? Thanks.......1978HJ45

For sale, probably not unless you want to shell out some serious cheddah. About a year ago, a pair of beat-up assed old oil company FZJ75s sold on Purple Wave for about 13K+ a piece.

The 70 series body parts on 60 or 80 series frames seems to be all the hotness these days:grinpimp:
 
Thanks for the reply. I assume the FZJ75 is a gas burner however I am trying to determine if there are any diesels (HJ's)

Gonna have yo wait a few more years until they can be legally imported, any that are here are most likely grey market.
 
i have no idea if any are already there but the 85 and very soon 86 model years are importable to the US.

If it were only legal to import into the U.S. Ideally I would like to have a HJ75 with the trayback configuation and as you pointed out earlier it would have to be a 1985/86 to comply with our stupid import laws. Take care...........1978HJ45
 
I know of 10 or so that I've seen for sale in various different places. Theres a guy down in florida thats sold a few on ebay for way too much money. Then theres the mine trucks also. More than you think are here...legally or not. Should be an influx soon with 25yr rule allowing more in

I assume the HJ75 (trayback) is quite plentiful in Australia and New Zealand even though it appears to be somewhat of a challenge to find one that does not have high kms. I also assume someone here in the States will start bringing them in as they become legal. I guess I will be patient and see how this plays out. .............1978HJ45

They don't exist...went from HJ75 (2H engine) in 1989 to HZJ75 (1HZ engine) in 1990.

If I were smart, I would be looking at the Troopy for the extra capacity however I really like the looks of the HJ75 with the trayback configuration. As a matter of fact the perfect vehicle for my purposes would be a HJ75 with a trayback ( with the fold up sides), A/C, snorkel and reasonably low kms.

Wayne... not to question your cruiser knowledge because I know you're way ahead of me, but I've heard that the troopies are way worse rust wise than the pickups. Is that true in your experience or is that only in the Aussie ones I've looked into? Perhaps being by the ocean or something?
 
not sure how you are questioning my knowledge but i have found that the troopy does have more areas prone to rust issues. it could be the longer body twisting or it could be piss poor design issues.
the reason i was suggesting the troopy to our LJ buddy was for practicality of both a useable truck (picture a truck and cap) and a bus for his 15 kids when he wants to go somewhere. best of both worlds.

shop well and you can find decent troopys but you need to have the budget for a good one.
