I have a 12 V H a 61 Land Cruiser. All of a sudden I look at my alternator gauge and it's only producing 11 Volts. The panel lights don't come on whatsoever. The alternator is only a year old. The battery is new. It has an internal voltage regulator. The checked the fuse and it's good maybe a break fuse? I really don't know how a fuse break works. I can't find where the negative for the battery runs to see if it's loose. Does anyone know where it attaches to. Any trouble shooting ideas?

Check the + and - cables on the battery post for corrosion and clean them with sanding paper.
Check the ENGINE fuse, the CHARGE fuse and the FUSIBLE link. See diagram.
Check for corrosion, bad contact(s) and bad or corroded connectors.
A fusible link is a short piece of wire (few inches) close to the battery +B post.
This link will burn up when something goes wrong and protects your harness going up in flames. It's made of heat and fire resistant material so you won't see if it's burned up. Check this link with an ohm meter. Disconnect the + cable from the battery for this test.
There is no separate negative wire from the alternator to the battery.
The alternator housing is negative/ground. Check the ground strap between engine and frame and the negative cable from the battery to the frame for corrosion, bad contact, et cetera.
If the problem is still there, it's time for some Volt measurements.
I think you have this alternator.
Turn the ign key to the "on" position. Check for voltage on the IGN and S terminal. Both should have (battery) voltage.
