I know there is a thread in the faq about this, but most responses are from gassers, plus it hasn't had a recent response and I'm kinda in a time limit.

From the responses in that thread it seems that the diesel 60's were getting around 25mpg. Most seemed to be BJ's

Just wondering what a HJ might get? Around the same as a 4cyl or is there a big difference? Also would adding turbo do much to increase or even decrease?

apparently mid 20's MPG's for the 2H. A turbo usually decreases the MPG because you tend to give it a little more right foot. But i dont think anybody here would take off a turbo to gain mileage once theyve driven it.

I'm gettng about 20 mpg in a non-turbo 2H, I live in the mountains and the truck is heavier than stock. Some people with a "B" motors claim better mpg's when turbo'd. Not sure if anybody would make the same claim with the 2H. I'm not sure mine really needs a turbo; I kinda waffle on the issue. Its a lot of money and I'm not sure the 2H likes to be turbo'd as much as some other toyota diesels.

My truck is is super heavy, bumpers all around, on 35" mud terrains, roof top tent, often loaded... and I get 17-19 with a turboed 2h. My mileage didn't really change much with the turbo but the driveability of the truck changes massively. My egt's are almost always really low, I don't need to keep the truck floored to keep up with traffic, and driving at altitude... well, it's now possible and enjoyable.

I have a stock HJ61, 12h-t motor and I get 23-25mpg reliably. My previous Bj61, 3B motor was actually slightly less maybe 22-24 mpg on average but it was getting a bit tired

cheers
Gerard
