I have access to a fj75 adjustable steering column for my 1979 fj45 cruiser. Could you tell me the benefits of using these steering columns in our old trucks. I was thinking of fitting one for a better driving position having the steering wheel closer to the dash and the adjustability would also help with the seating position. I'm 6ft tall and these small cabs have limited room when changing gears with my knee clipping my ear when releasing the clutch or braking. Would you know off a fix for a shorter throw clutch and brake peddle maybe the 70-75 would help also ?

Like what you have mentioned the steering wheel is closer to the dash which give you more room for your movement of your legs. Other than this, the real enjoyment is the wiper and headlamp switches are located at the steering column.
For the headlamp, you switch on and once is for all. However, for wiper! Oh man!
This is tiring when you have little rain fall.
My main objective for a 70 column was to save all the unnecessary works for power steering mod.
I'm not quite sure whether the the 70 clutch and brake paddle will give more room.
