i was just wondering if anybody would have any info to offer up about HJ45's up until tonight i didnt even know they existed. does anybody know anything about these trucks? like production years, markets they were sold to stuff like that...thanks

They are a dime a dozen in oz ,2H diesel 4 speed. Australian versions are 99% traybacks
I dont know when they started but its way back in the early 60s and finished in 84 to make way for the 75 series.
Most are 4 speeds but some are 5 speed.
Heres a pic of of an engine bay in a army HJ45 and another trayback on a farm I looked at.
And a dual cab ,one of 400 built for the mining industry here.

What exactly did you want to know? They share the same body as a FJ45 and are very close to all the others in the 40 series range.

Well there are a heap of guys with on going projects in that section and a wealth of knowledge there ,also there are blokes working on troopys and utes. I recently posted a link from an Oz Forum with some extra cabs and dual cabs. Further back I posted pictures of my mates Fj45 2F trayback and a HJ47 diesel trayback. I think perhaps if you get to know a few of the blokes and ask specific questions you will get answers. Are you a member of a club in your area as your location is not shown? May pay to join one. There is a heap of stuff on google -just search.

what i wanted to know....well i didnt know anything about them until i saw somthing on an importer site and i tried googleing it and found nothing in english really so i searched here and have been trying to find out stuff like where i could find one, what years they were made, mostly info related to buying one of these rigs or even where to look for one (if i would have to look overseas)and what the usualy go for dollar wise...also do you know if they would follow what the other 40's have with stuff like D/B and other such things?

bigbrowndog, im normally on the west coase of Canada and im am kind of part of a LC club...i say kind of because im 17 and on a student exchange in finland at the moment and have been looking for a 45 on mud ect, when i find somthing interesting i e-mail my dad and he tells me if he's willing to think about picking it up for me and storing it until i get home this summer...i didnt think that the HJ47 was very similar to the 45 so i havnt thought to do any searching on that, ill check out the large list of links you have posted for me and see what i come up with....

thanks alot guys...ill start doin my hw :p

schwiiiiiggggg on the Troopy...

:D

The FAQ at Birfield lists the HJ45 Troop Carrier and 47V as somewhat the same thing:

"VERY long 2 door 40 with 2 sets of 40 style side windows on HT"

What are the differences?

bbg, you have a PM.

Thanks

gb

bbd, that 2h has a bosch hand primer. Good to know they fit. I have one in my tool box awaiting install. I was told at the injection shops they fit well and are better than the denso expensive screw in style.

so the 47's are basicly the same as the 45's? thanks for all the pics bigbrowndog :D
