Getting ready for a disc swap and thinking of going the mini route. I've been searching and reading tech links and my brain hurts :crybaby:

I keep getting confused between which year LC, Surf, IFS, Mini....

To keep it simple, no rotor / caliper hybrids, am I basically looking for any 4wd Toyota pickup front axle 1979 - 1985 right?

I basically need to know what to ask the parts guys when I call around. I have a feeling that if I ask for a mini Toyota axle I'm going to hear crickets on the other end of the phone. :D

Thanks!

and they are a hot comodity down here. hard to find

ps how do you spell comodity anyway???

85 Toyota Axle

I have a Complete front solid axle out of a 85 Toyota 4WD pickup for sale that would be great for a disc brake conversion. It needs the rotors turned as they are rusty but otherwise is in great condition. It also still has the steering box and aisan hubs. I am located in Pendleton, Ore but could meet you in the Tri-Cities which is only a couple of hours from you if you are interested.

If yoda-g3 does not take you up on your offer let me know. I am interested if I can scratch up the money. I am the other side of the mountain from you at Albany.

I know of a couple complete axles for sale over here on the west side for $300 each. When I did mine, I bought a complete axle, then sold off the remaining parts (diff, housing, inner axles, "J" arm, etc.) and made back $150 or so.

If you haven't done so already, call up Kurt at Cruiseroutfitters and order a complete kit with trunion bearings. If you don't need the bearings, count yourself lucky and stash them away for spares. If you do end up needing them, you'll be really glad you don't have to wait for UPS to bring them.

Axle available!

He said he is looking at a couple of others so if you are interested let me know. I would really like to find it a home so I don't keep tripping over it.

Thanks guys, I'm getting a complete mini front axle and high steer setup form a local guy. I may have a lead on some other mini axles if anyone is interested.
