Anyone have any tips on how to remove the hinge pins on the spare tire carrier hinges? I've had them soaking in Kroil for 2 weeks, and have applied heat. So far they aren't budging.

Thanks,

Angle grinder and hammer. They are welded in later models.

I just did mine this past weekend on my 78. Also soaked mine for about a week, got my neighbor help and we got some good hammer strikes and it did eventually break the grip of the corrosion. This is only the first half of the battle, get a dremmel and clean out the inside of the hinges, it will make a world of difference in installing the new bushings and pins!

Also read on here that an air hammer worked wonders as well.

You'll get it, be patient

As a follow up, I went ahead and grinded the welds located on the inside of the half that mounts to the truck. I'll rebuild them, mock them up, and re-weld.

Thanks,
