Hi All,

I have a '95 FJZ80 and the high beam just went out. I've been looking for the fuse but all I found was the fuse for the low beams.

Is there a fuse for the high beam located somewhere? I've checked right under the dash & under the hood but I didn't see one for the high beams....

Thank you for all your help in advance.

If it was just one high beam that went out I would start with the bulb. The headlight fuses each protect two bulbs (left and right sides), so I would only suspect them if both bulbs on one side are not working.

Both high beam headlights are out...so I don't think it's just a bulb issue.

Anyone know where it's located if there is one?? Thanks.

If your lowbeams work then it is not a fuse issue. There is a headlight fuse L/H and a headlight fuse R/H in the fuseblock under the hood. Each fuse protects both bulbs (high and low) on either the left or right side of the truck. You have a problem with one bulb on each side, so I'd look at the switch in the steering column since it is the only point in common for both highbeam bulbs. Some folks have had some luck cleaning the switch with contact cleaner or WD40.

Do your highbeams work when you pull the stick back (flash to pass position)?

No neither side works...

The first things that comes to mind are the fuse, bulbs, clean grounds, relay, than the Light/Blinker switch.

Rare as it sounds I have seen both light bulbs out/bad at once.

Sometimes the Light/Blinker switches have been salvaged by cleaning them and re-coating everything in new dielectric grease again.

To clean use carb or brake cleaner to remove the old crud and old grease out. Blow dry it off and then if possible clean the copper terms/connections with an eraser, hit it with brake cleaner again and blow dry it back off and re-coat it in dielectric.

Have you played with any of the wires and connections to the switch under the dash or column? If so you may want to recheck them as well.

Keep us all updated as you track this down.

Good luck

So , my high beams stopped working yesterday , when I push the lever to engage them , but if I just pull them back they illuminate ! So clearly it's not the fuse ? Does it sound like the physical switch to you ? I also assume it wouldn't be the relay either ?

Thanks in advance !

There is 1 relay that supplies +12 to all 4 bulb positions, and there are 2 fuses. 1 for left side and one for right side, both high and low beam.
If the highs work in the flash position, but not when pushing the stalk to the high position, then it's the stalk switch.
