Hey all... i went out yesterday and got myself a Hi Lift after drooling over them for quite some time... but now i have a problem! How do you carry them on a 70 series, ive seen some brackets from the center of the spare tire but i wanted to know how everyone carried theirs!!!

Are there any better solutions, what else do you recommend!?

Thanks in advance!

How about horizontal across the bumper or if you have a bullbar that is thick enough, bolt the base plate on the opposite side to the driver.

Otherwise Kaymar makes one that fits to the spare

sweet setup Roland... Have you had any problems with the hinges?

Yes I have... the problem is to park the TLC un public site. They have max. 2,20 m and the TLC is 2,18 m high and with the hi-lift is 2,50 m.

Most time I don´t put de hi-lift in the mount only when I have of-road travel.

Makes sense... and does it interfere with the use of the small door? I like that solution, ive seen it from venezuela but i dont know if it will hold up too well...

Mounting it on the front bumper seems like a good idea also, especially considering mine is going on the chopping board pretty soon... anyone have any pics of what that would look like?

Roland do you have close up pictures?

Hi Roland,

Do you have any close up pictures. I'm curious on how you mounted to the hinges and the door. It looks like a bolt -on solution?

Maybe you could explain how the brackets are designed.

Cheers,

John

In this moment I don´t have close pics.... but in the weekend I take some and posted here.

I can tell you that sistem are two brackets welded to the hinge of the small door.

One is welded in the lower hinge and is the base of the hi-lift and the other is also welde in the upper hinge of the door and is the bracket thar close the sistem.

With the pics that I will take in the weekend you will have the all idea :D

Done and done...

Well i finally did it... didnt turn out to be all that complicated, the only issue i have now is theft deterrence since releasing either the 2 hi lift supporting bolts or the 3 rim supporting bolts, or the one screw on the hitch will release the hi lift easily... i'll think of something.

Anyway, here are the pics. I got a guy to build me a round plate, (sorta like a spacer) with the 3 holes to fit the spare tire. Got a class 2 type hitch and coupling... and welded it on there. Opened up a slot in order to slide the actual plate where the hi lift is attatched in order to fit different size rims and tires on the spare. anwyay, a picture is worth a thousand words...

in the past few days, ive been using the car non stop... dirt roads and all... it doesnt move at all... the benefits are that you can pull the hitch in and tighten it so it rests on the two sidewalls as well as as the metal bracket used to brace it... i have a couple trips this weekend so i'll post a report. Whole thing, with paint and everything cost me less than 75 US dollars.

Que lastima que en USA no permiten la entrada de los cauchos SIMEX... :(
