Hi! First off I'm recent rookie that got hooked on the LC! I have a question that I'm hoping some of you Cruiser heads can hopefully help me out. I have a 95' LC w/ factory lockers, the engine is completely stock. I recently did a OME 3" suspension kit upgrade and slapped on some 33" Cooper Discover MT.

So I took my rig on a test run / wheeling it at Hollister Hills here in CA, today. The Rig did super well for the most part. 4WD worked well with the new suspension kit around the obstacle course they have there. Decided to take a trail run up to the top of the "HILL". The easy green trails were cake for my 80. So I decided to push it a little harder on some steeper incline "blue" level trails. On the way up, my rig seemed to hesitate and was hurting for fuel. It felt like I was about to stall the engine. But the rig is an automatic. would try to gas it a bit and give it more fuel... but it started to struggle a bit. I was able to make the climb but the constant hesitation worried me, so I ended the day and decided to head home.

I'm thinking my fuel filters are dirty and need to be replaced, maybe the fuel injectors too? Any ideas? Any help is much appreciated.

Two common issues to check: The big air intake tube tends to crack. Check the main wire harness where it passes the EGR tube along between the head and intake plenum. The harness holder is known to fail and the harness short on the hot EGR tube.

Thanks for the info. I will check it tomorrow.

First check fuel filters. In addition fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump relay and fuel pump as next items to check or replace. Search each one as there are plenty of threads on these subjects to help you out.

Lean forward... Couldn't resist :)

If you are going up really steep hills and for whatever reason you start rolling backwards while in a forward gear, you will most likely stall. Then brace yourself for the e-ticket ride of your life. Be prepared to use that emergency hand brake and quickly putting the trans in reverse if you notice you going backwards. Finding out the hard way SUUUUUUUCCKs. Just an FYI.

dont forget to report back... Ive got nothing new to offer :)

That would be pretty freaky on Lions Back, Moab UT.:steer:

So I checked the Main Intake Tube and it is still in very good shape. NO cracks or Tears. The EGR and the harness looks good as well. Driving on normal flat road and on the freeway, the LC drives great. Decent good acceleration for a SUV w/ 249K and a lot of Torque. I tried it in 4WD HIGH and LO.

I'm going to take the fuel filter off and inspect that. Maybe some Mystery Oil w/ a full tank of Chevron w/ Techron might help.
