So, I bought an 88 FJ62, 180K mi, in February & had a tuneup/valveadjustment in March.
I've noticed on a couple of longer trips 1hr or more, the cruiser will hesitate and fail to accelerate even when the pedal is to the floor.
When the pedal is to the floor, there will be a 2 second acceleration/increase in RPM followed by deceleration/decrease in RPM, this cycle repeats as long as the car is running. If I park it and let it sit for 20 mins everything returns to normal.
Has anyone heard of this ? Any ideas on what is going on?
Also- this was purchased in CA and still has all smog equipment...
