The madness is about to commence. I can no longer stand the ever growing rust on the 70. Working around the extra tub and body panels cluttering up my garage is getting tiresome. I was just going to patch and glass it up but I can never bring myself to do a half baked job. I have a serious OCD personality disorder. Sooooooo I started building a rotisserie today. I'm going to rip the tub off, mig in the proper patches and box line the inside and under carriage. Over kill, I know but I really like the truck and I may as well do it right if I want it to last. I'll sell the rotisserie after so if anyone else is crazy enough to take on a frame off rotisserie job next winter l'll post it when it has to go.

Nice! sounds like you are going to have your hands full. Good for you for doing it right. The rotisserie you are building, will it be only big enough for a 70 or adjustable for larger vehicles? I might be interested when you are done. I hope it works out.

Nice boat, colour matches my truck.

I'm building it full sized, dual hydraulic rams for lifting and a 30:1 worm drive hand crank rotating system. I figured may as well build that right as well.

There's not near enough space in that garage for you to do all that work! Wonder if there's something close by. Hmmmmm.

It will be nice to be able to move the body instead of contorting yours.

Hey Dave,

Glad to hear you're still diggin' the 70. I have just got my 42 project on the road, don't know if you saw the thread. I will post the pics soon. . . Are you planning to attend the May Long trip? I know this is going back but do you still have my car Club (Red)?? I just found my keys for it... Justin

More Progress

I may need the space as the clutter is growing, especially with the other tub in the garage. I think it will take me longer to tear it down than cut and weld in the patches. Its going to be several large ones as this truck is a RUST BUCKET, its still salvageable though. Justin, I likely still have the club under the pile somewhere. I'm getting lots of practice on the welder and will have a ton of sheet metal experience by the time I patch up the block of swiss cheese. I've been practicing on some thin stuff with some sheet metal scraps and its all coming back to me ...... even feels like my Dad is standing over my shoulder barking at me "your going to warp that, stone hands". I remember helping him on a rare 426 Hemi Road Runner he did, I was a nervous wreck thinking I would mess something up. He taught me a ton when I was a kid, just wish I could remember all of it so I didn't have keep bugging him with dumb questions.

I think Greg was hinting that he might have a nice space available for you. :D

what type of welder are you using?

Lincoln 180HD, It will just weld that thickness of plate with gas but I'm using flux core on the thick stuff for better penetration as it doesn't have to be pretty, just strong.

Nice to see one being saved. There aren't going to be many left soon...
