Temp guage is fine. The oil guage is up and down, but not extreme to either direction.

I am taking the morning to work on this. Will stop at AutoZone first thing and check the codes, then report back to you all.

The smoke really smells like a toxic fume. Not sweet. More like the smell of your hand after spilling gas on it at the pump. But multiply that.

FRANK YOU ROCK!! Thanks for the info!!!

If you are dumping lots of unburnt fuel through the exhaust you are likely to waste the catalytic converts. $$

Frank, do you have a listing of all the codes? I am about to run over to AutoZone and want to be able to tell what the check will tell me.

UPDATE:

Since I have to wait until 9am to head to the Zone. I backed the truck out of the garage and dove in. What I found was scary.

Unspent Fuel driping off of the manifold. This is not good for fire reasons.

Clogged cats?

EGR?

Have you tried a power balance test to find out what cylinder is missing? Then pull a plug, check for sparky.

R you crazy, he has raw gas leaking on the manafolds and you want him to do what!!!???

The only thing I have seen that leaks fuel like that is the fuel pressure regulator (this one has a vaccum line) or the fuel dampener, both on the fuel rail.

Oh yeh. Duh. The fuel is not being burnt before it gets to the manifold. So find out why it is not being burnt. One step at time mudshack.

Not aware of how to do a power balance test. But I know it is one of the back 3.

So Frank. You are suggesting what? I would really like to check to see what the error code is before diving in with the wrench.

From one two banana at best to apparently another, have this thing towed to your shop and fixed. You're literally playing with fire here.

Leave the wrench in your tool box....
....and please do what TJK suggest. I know that you are in Texas, if you are around the Austin area I would call Land Cruiser Specialist in Pfluggerville.

you need a OBDII scanner for a Toyota to read the codes. It still may not tell you what is broken.

It sounds to me like you have a serious fuel problem and you are not familiar with your motor yet. The fuel rail is under the upper plenum which you have to remove to get to the injectors and stuff....

So my armchair assessment is to call for a tow.
Good Luck

Ugggg...... rented an OBDII scanner. Just letting it initialize while I checked messages.

Here are the codes:

Trouble Codes:
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire
P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire
P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire
P0172 System Too Rich (Bank 1)

Potential Codes:
P0172
P0300
P0304
P0306 Cylinder 6 Misfire

So, I am guesing that 3 and 4 are not fireing....hence the reason for the fuel through the flange connecting the manifold to the rear pipe. And the O2 sensor is saying "system too rich" because the fuel is not being burnt from 3 and 4. And now number 6 looks like it may present a problem.

What REALLY PISSES me off is that I can't get to the plugs. The STUPID plastic Lexus plates that they put over the plug will not budge. I can't get any of the 4 screws to budge. I am about 2 clicks shy of just taking it to a shop and having them mess with it.!!!!!!!

Ok, here is my theory.

When I ran with the cap off, it filled up the valve cover with oil, now drowning out the plugs. But because of the stupid plastic Lexus cover over the plugs, I can't get to them to see if this is the case. Any suggestions on getting 4 large screws out? I have PBBusted them to no end in the last hour. I am all but stripping them. And I really don't want to do that. I would HATE to take it into a shop to have them charge me an arm and a leg for something so simple

Have you tried using an impact screwdriver?
