I'm about ready to start putting the S-10 tank in my 40. I posted a couple questions in the fj40 forum but havent gotten much of a reply....

1) Does anyone use any type of rubber or plastic material between the tank and straps?

2) In looking at other threads on this subject, it looks like the straps hold the tank up- but there doesnt seem to be anything holding the tank down (does this make any sense?) Should there be something holding the tank down onto the straps?

3) would it be better to build a shield or cage to protect the tank- if anyone has done one- I would love to see pics!

Thanks

Hers my rig- just because I know everyone likes pics!

I don't have the answer you are looking for. Though, I am used to seeing some kind of cushioning between the strap and tank. But, will you have the needed space between the rear axle and the S-10 tank since the rear axle appears to have been move back quite a bit?

Just curious since I'm planning to move my rear axle back several inches, and am wanting to put in another tank. If there is enough room the S-10 tank would be an easy way to get the extra gallons. You do have an SOA setup so maybe there is plenty of space there.

I have not moved the springs from the original positions. It may appear that way because of the way the tub is cut-however they are in their stock position.
The tub is raised slightly higher than stock, which I hope allows me to tuck the tank up an extra inch...And this is NOT a SOA set up- there is a 4" suspension lift, but not SOA...
Thanks
