Hi all. Did a search and didn't find exactly what I was looking for and some conflicting info. As I have crap internet up in northern Philippines I was hoping for some clarity without dealing with internet just this side of dialup.

I have been getting an intermittent P1340 code with a CEL and both VSC lights. It is accompanied by a rough idle. Again, it is intermittent.

I have read this could be a cam sensor or igniter fault bank #8. Can anyone confirm? And if so, is this just likely a #8 cylinder coil pack with a different code?

Any thoughts would help. I have a new coil pack with me so I could drop that in here but anything more would be pretty impossible. Toyota Philippines won't touch my American Toyota because it is an American model and therefore "gray market". And of course, since this is just a weekend highway trip, I tossed the tool bag with the voltmeter in it in the apartment.

Thanks.

P1340 = ignitor bank 8

I've replaced 2 ignitors over the last 2 years and the rest are still original, using oem ones here. you may get new cel codes after repl #8 - bob you're uncle will tell you, good luck... I also had intermiten rough idle when those came up.

Thanks. I appreciate it. Beno sent me three a bit after I arrived here because I expected them to start going. #8 was the first culprit about 2 years ago. Odd it may have gone again.
Again, I appreciate the response. I will post up to let you know the result.

I am pretty certain that I had that same code when my coil pack also went.

I think mine just gave up as the idle was terrible with no change until I swapped the new one in.

If this second time #8, I'd be inspecting spark plug(s). Actually anytime a coils goes south!
