Ive recently done a body off resto on my 81 HJ47. I haven't done anything to the engine as the budget hasn't allowed and it is (well was) running well. As far as my labels and photos of each connection go I have connected everything back the way it came off. BUT there is no power at the ignition at all. Could the new paint on the chassis be affecting my earth connections or where else do I start looking. Thanks in advance. Ross

Yes new paint can cause a bad earth as I found out yesterday on my hj47 just put my harness back in but have a new painted chassis

Ross I to had the same problem when I sandblasted my frame and coated with a epoxy paint (POR15). As noted above the multi meter will be the best for checking this situation out.
Do take some 180 sandpaper to the frame, make sure that area is bear metal were the bolt holds the cable to the frame and a nice shinny cable connection also. Do the same for the other areas that require a ground. Things should start the work.

Thanks guys sorted the earth terminals out and still had noting then realised had plugged the light plug into the ignition plug:doh::doh:. All sorted now and it fires up first time!

Good work mate
