Hi Mudders
I am having chronic troubles with a stumbling idle in my otherwise reliable fzj80. In addition, I get CEL code 24 which points to an error in the air temperature sensor circuit.

So far, I have checked
1) the wiring harness (yes it is cracked, but nearly certain
2) I have replaced the ecu (now I have two...)
3) New Chinese ebay air meter (the 1994's have the barn door style; I have two of these too... I suppose it will be nice for future diagnostic purposes).
4) I even jumped the wire from the sensor directly to the ecu since I thought perhaps there was a short in the harness

Still no success.

This is my first post after owning and wrenching on my 80 for the last 10 years. It's funny, I always seem to find direction using the search. This time, I am stumped...

Help......

Zero experience with my 80 so far. So, grain of salt.

It's a pretty big list of things that could be the culprit. My first two choices would be faulty/clogged Idle control solenoid, or vacuum leak.

Other choices are Ignition problem, TPS adjusted wrong, dirty injectors, dirty fuel filter, bad fuel pump, low bat voltage ...

Start with the simple and cheap/free things first. No point in throwing money at it if you don't need to.
