Have a 74 40 and I'm wanting to put an fj60 p/s system on it what all is involved in doing this other than pump brakets and relocateing the alt then drilling bolt holes and cutting finder and bib pannle?

My main consern is the drag link

It will be custom made no matter how you approach it. If you've got factory
knuckles the drag link will be threaded 17mm 1.25 at the knuckle and 21mm
1.25 at the pitman. If you've done a disc swap with either 60 or mini truck knuckles you'll have 21mm and 21mm ends

Iv done the disc break swap but I think I sleeved the tie rod ends on the knuckles to keep my steering but my truck still has the stock tie rod and drag linki think I'm gunna have to cut and extend and weld the stock link but I think I'll have to have the 60 pitman arm link end of the 60 drag link

The next is the intermediate shaft. I was thinking getting a gm intermediate shat and mod it with u- joints so i have the slide shaft. does any body have pics of this swap done. I need picks of drag links and intermediate shaft how I can use my stock Column. Im also working with a very small budget so

If you've already done the disc swap with mini- truck or 60 outers, the cleanest
way is to ditch the tapered rod end sleeves and use a 60 series rod end set. You'll need to either shorten a set of 60 tie and relay rods or have someone build them for you. The tie rod for a 40 front end using 60 series tie rod ends will be ~ 41 5/8" long. I could tell you the relay rod measurement using a saginaw box for that setup but I don't use 60 boxes in my 40 conversions

contact grant5127 at wimberly. he does alot of these and is well versed.

When you do yours pls take lots of pics as I am preparing for mine also.

Iv been looking around at different steering systems and I think I'm gunna go with rack&pinon setup but I'll post pics and detailed info on how I do it along with brands of parts I use

I looked at it and I think if I drop the lvl of the center of the rack down to where it's in line with the tie rods to compensate for travel but I also have a 4 inch lift springs so

My biggest problem is actually mounting the p/s pump to the drivers side of the engine because I have the F engine. Where else can I mount this pump, preferably on the passenger side of the engine?

Check out the link in my signature. I also added a steering fluid cooler also. The steering is soo much better now.

To keep my air cleaner my truck is a 74 so it has the big round cleaner

You can get a bracket from Marksoffroad.net that will allow you to keep your air cleaner.

Does any body have pics of how you have your p/s pump bracket is made pref with a yota pump to a F model engine. The f engine doesn't have the holes for the p/s bracket
